LINDBERG – the embodiment of Danish design

Many of you may not know this, but every pair of LINDBERG eyeglasses is made with a minimalist approach without screws, rivets or welded parts. The result of this is ultra-lightweight pieces of eyewear that keeps on revolutionising the industry with award-winning designs and innovative technologies.

What makes LINDBERG stand out? It must be the modular system that allows end-users to customise every element of their eyewear to suit their personal style and needs. No mass-production or mindless automation. Every eyewear and component are made to order at the unique facility in Denmark, in a melting pot of modern technology, traditional craftsmanship and design. LINDBERG insists on no compromise excellence and constantly reconsider and improve every detail, every process, each material and every surface.

Each pair of LINDBERG glasses is individually crafted and hand-finished by in-house eyewear specialists. Everything is made using responsibly sourced and exceptionally long-lasting materials including titanium, gold, buffalo horn, fine woods and diamonds.

Our definition of design

Lindberg believes that design is a way of thinking — it’s about innovation, materials, craftsmanship, and comfort. It’s an idea about trying to do everything better, again and again.

This is also the reason to why Lindberg obsess about every detail, every process, and every action in designing and manufacturing LINDBERG eyewear—and why they are determined to keep doing things better.

LINDBERG has won 111 prestigious international awards for both design and technical achievement. These prestigious design awards validates LINDBERG as a leader in the world of design and eyewear.

The latest collection thintanium has already achieved recognition and so far, gained two of the most sought-after design awards: “The Red Dot: Best of the Best” – the highest award in the competition, reserved for the very best products, and the iF Gold Award – the best award by iF design where LINDBERG was within the 75 of 10,000 applicants who received the honour.

Customisation

LINDBERG designs have a particularly strong following among design aficionados due to the distinctive understated look. Behind the look you find advanced technology, carefully assembled minimalist solutions, meticulous hand finishing, and attention to detail. Details you can’t see are well engineered and crafted. Often the point lies in what isn’t there—no welds, screws, rivets or hinges.

The eyewear is characterised by exceptional comfort and lightness. Some LINDBERG designs weigh as little as 2 grams. The unique combination of strength and flexibility is a result of the materials used and the way they’re processed.

LINDBERG and the technology behind

LINDBERG employs a distinctive mix of advanced technology, especially customised equipment and meticulous hand finishing, in ways that are out of the ordinary—mainly because there often isn’t any mainstream, off-the-shelf equipment capable of meeting the standards LINDBERG insists upon.

As a result, the LINDBERG manufacturing setup houses a blend of advanced technology and unusual machinery that LINDBERG experts themselves have concocted, modified, and re-purposed—as well as handcrafted expertise and the skills of specialist jewellers where appropriate.

Craftsmanship

LINDBERG is rooted in the Danish design tradition of natural materials, engineered and finished in premium quality.

The LINDBERG signature titanium is lightweight, yet of exceptional strength, flexibility and springiness. Our signature titanium is the prominent material used in our collections.

The LINDBERG buffalo titanium collection is made of natural horn, while eyewear in the premium Precious range is made of 18 karat solid gold and platinum, combined with natural horn from buffalo, musk ox and Siberian mammoth tusk, and inlaid with top quality diamonds.

Each individual pair of LINDBERG precious glasses is made by hand by LINDBERG goldsmiths. Every piece of the collection is a true piece of art created with the highest degree of care to detail, giving every frame the attention, such luxury demands.

LINDBERG must keep on being a first-mover

LINDBERG is co-founded by architect MAA, Henrik Lindberg and his father, optometrist, Poul-Jørn Lindberg in 1986. In 2021 LINDBERG became part of Kering Eyewear, which belongs to the global luxury group Kering. Kering Eyewear designs, develops, and distributes eyewear for a complete and well-balanced portfolio of 16 Luxury, Fashion and Lifestyle brands such as Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, Brioni and Boucheron.

Henrik Lindberg expresses: “I think it has been fantastic but also 35 demanding years. I will turn 67 next year and my backpack is full of valuable and great experiences and memories from around the world, however I do not want to ’walk the talk’ in the alleys of LINDBERG when I turn 75. LINDBERG is not a museum, where we speak about ‘how we usually do’. LINDBERG must keep on being a first-mover.”
